Mosaic Visions

The story: This idea progressed from my experimenting with multiple images connecting to form one visual. It was an idea to map the faces of musicians I was meeting at the time. Digital photography was too easy to perfect using photoshop, so using medium format film with a Pentax 6x7 i began to develop a macro photographic technique to photograph a face up very close! I soon found out that this was not just a technical project but a test in social skills. Without a strong and genuine connection to the artist this would’ve been impossible. Below is a sample of my favourite portraits.

The technical stuff: Shot on a single roll of film, each frame is shot in sequence from 1 to 10. The arrangement is premeditated to form a square or a cross. Its presented as a contact print which displays the film data. Selected portraits have been exhibited for art events and group shows.

All prints are hand printed using traditional process by Sandra Barnard from SandyPrints.com.au.
